As co-developed by Harry Thomason and Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, the situation comedy HEARTS AFIRE originally ran on CBS for three seasons, from September 1992 through February 1995. A lighthearted topical satire, it co-starred John Ritter and Markie Post as, respectively, senator's aide John Hartman and journalist Georgie Anne Lahti, characters who become romantically involved with one another and eventually marry, against a backdrop of political foibles. The series opened in Washington, D.C., then shifted its setting to a small southern town during seasons two and three. The supporting cast includes Billy Bob Thornton, Ed Asner and George Gaynes.
